VfB Stuttgart appoint Dietmar Allgaier as interim president
Allgaier takes over after Claus Vogt's departure
Interim president aims to restore stability behind the scenes
STUTTGART, Germany -- Fußball-Bundesligist VfB Stuttgart has appointed Dietmar Allgaier as interim president following the departure of Claus Vogt. The club's supervisory board made the decision in a special meeting on Thursday, August 1, with a clear majority in favor of Allgaier's appointment.
Allgaier, who has served on the club's supervisory board since 2019, takes over from Vogt, who was voted out of office by the club's members in a vote of no confidence last month. Allgaier's main task will be to restore stability behind the scenes at the club, which has been rocked by a series of controversies in recent months.
Allgaier said he was "honored" to be appointed interim president and vowed to work hard to unite the club and restore its reputation. "I am aware of the great responsibility that comes with this office," he said. "But I am confident that, together with the rest of the supervisory board, we can lead the VfB back to calmer waters."
