Blas Perez Announces Retirement from International Football

Former Panama captain and all-time leading goalscorer hangs up his boots after 15 years with the national team

Perez played in three CONCACAF Gold Cups and two FIFA World Cup qualifying campaigns

Blas Perez, Panama's all-time leading goalscorer, has announced his retirement from international football after 15 years with the national team. The 37-year-old striker made the announcement on social media, thanking his teammates, coaches, and fans for their support.

Perez made his international debut in 2001 and went on to score 43 goals in 117 appearances for Panama. He was the captain of the team from 2010 to 2016 and led Panama to its first-ever FIFA World Cup appearance in 2018.

In addition to his international career, Perez also had a successful club career, playing for teams in Panama, Mexico, Colombia, and the United States. He won league titles in Panama and Colombia and was the top scorer in the Mexican league in 2013.

Perez's retirement is a major loss for the Panama national team. He is the team's all-time leading goalscorer and has been a key player for Panama in recent years. His experience and leadership will be missed by the team.
